Debra Ann Downey

Debra Ann Downey, 59, of Cross Plains passed away at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Our Hospice of Southcentral Indiana in Columbus. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland on January 5, 1964, the daughter of Richard and Vera Rowe Huff. She was married to Dennis Downey on October 31, 2020 and he survives.

Other survivors include one son Kenneth Merica of Madison; one daughter Kimberly Nelson and her companion Frederic Tobe of Cross Plains; two brothers Richard Huff, Jr. of Cumberland, Maryland and Charles (Jen) Huff of Palmyra, Pennsylvania; one sister Rosemary Milburn of Morgantown, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Downey was a 1982 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland. She was a former employee of the Holiday Inn in Madison. Debra enjoyed reading and was a paranormal investigator.

Debra’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
