Gerald Lee Hardy

Gerald Lee Hardy, 79, of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family.

Born on October 11, 1945, in Osgood, Indiana, he was the son of the late Henry and Dixie (Sparks) Hardy. He was a graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School in May 1963. On October 5, 1968, he married Donna Rae (Ditmer) Hardy, who survives. Gerald honorable served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Gerald worked as a lineman for 33 years for TEE, then Verizon companies, and as the union representative in southeastern Indiana, for many years, before retiring. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with old vehicles and time spent with his family.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Donna, his sons: Chad (Kelly) Hardy and Clint (Joanie) Hardy of Salem, IN; 7 grandchildren: Alix, Damon, Arina, Abigail, Karissa, Allyson and Harrison; and 2 sisters – Shirley Berrie of Sandford, FL, and Barbara Comer of Deerfield beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Paul C. Hardy.

Committal service was held with full military honors on Monday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Memorial request is to plant a tree in his memory.
