Gregory Scott Mills

Gregory Scott Mills, age 58, of Rising Sun, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio on Thursday, December 24, 2020. He was the son of Phyllis Mills and the late Marvin Mills of Moores Hill.


Greg was a graduate of Indiana University and attended Xavier University for his post graduate work. After graduating college, Greg worked at Alton Box and Inland Container. He had been employed by Corrugated Chemicals for the past 27 years. His work has taken him to every region of the United States. He was blessed with many wonderful co-workers all around the country.


Greg was an avid hunter and fisherman who never knew a stranger. He loved his hunting and fishing adventures in the United States and Canada, but his most precious journeys were with his beloved daughter, Ellie, his family and friends. Greg visited all 50 states, including 4 trips to Alaska. He enjoyed anything related to the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing games, reading and spending time with his family. As a 48 year-member of Sparta Baptist Church, he faithfully served the Lord and was a Deacon and Trustee.


Greg is survived by his daughter Ellie Mills of Rising Sun, Indiana; mother Phyllis Mills of Moores Hill, Indiana; brother Jeff Mills (Kim) of Henderson, Kentucky; sister Lori (Joe) Linkmeyer of Cross Plains, Indiana; nephews Andrew (Jenna) and Logan; nieces Sheila (Matt), Jessica (Nick), Allie (Dalon) and Brittany; four great-nephews, one great-niece, and a host of relatives and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his father Marvin, infant son Aaron and brother Doug. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Phone calls, texts and messages of comfort are greatly appreciated by the family of Greg at this time. Memorials may be given in honor of Greg to the Greg Mills Scholarship, Sparta Baptist Church or donor’s choice.
