Herman Wenker

Herman Wenker

Herman Henry Wenker, age 91, of Osgood passed away in Fort Myers, Florida on February 28, 2024. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 23, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Zengerling) Wenker.

Herman grew up in Cincinnati along with his brothers and sisters. He was a graduate of Purcell High School. He began his secondary education at Xavier University, graduating with a degree in accounting. He was then drafted by the United States Army and proudly served our country. When his time of service was complete, he enrolled in the University of Cincinnati Law Program. He received his Doctorate of Law Degree.

After years of college studies and a tough law bar exam, he needed a break and visited a dear friend in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Unbeknownst to him at the time, this visit would forever shape the rest of his life. A young lady Nancy Bowen was working at the Handicap Children’s Camp, and she caught Herman’s attention. They began dating in the summer of 1959, and were married on June 18, 1960. They would have been celebrating their 64th anniversary this summer.

Herman worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance, before going into private practice and was also Solicitor for Silverton, Ohio. He began his law practice in the Cincinnati area with his office being in the Kenwood community. Upon his retirement he and Nancy bought property outside of Osgood. They spent many winters in Mexico, before spending the last few winters in Florida.

Herman will be dearly missed by wife Nancy, sons Gregory of Kenwood and Christopher (Sonya) of Kenwood, grandchildren; Bradley, Griffin, Jeffrey, Courtney, Chloe, and Noah, sister Elizabeth Wenker of Oakley, brother Paul (Joyce) Wenker of Mount Lookout, brother-in law Joe Kelly, and sister-in-law Susan Wenker. He was preceded in death by daughter Michelle, sisters Joan and Margie, and brother Don.

Visitation was held on Friday March 15, 2024, from 10-11:30 am, with Mass held at 11:30 am., at St John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Osgood. Online condolences may be placed at Nealsfuneralhome.net
