James J. Rosebrock

James J. Rosebrock, 89, of Versailles passed away at 1:55 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, just two days from his 90th birthday at the Swiss Villa in Vevay. He was born at Advance in Boone County, Indiana on May 24, 1935, the son of George and Mary Downey Rosebrock.
He was married to Clarris Rutherford on June 14, 1959 and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2024. Survivors include one son James J. Rosebrock, Jr. of Versailles; two daughters Carol Fischer of Friendship and Robin (Don) Sporleder of Butlerville; 5 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Raymond Rosebrock of Scottsburg. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son John William and one daughter Maria, and his sisters Ruth Howlett, Louise Egnatz, and Alice Johnson.
Jim served with the Indiana National Guard from 1956 to 1959 as a Senior Recovery Mechanic. He was a farmer and a former employee of Cummins Engine Company. In his younger years Jim had been worked for the Nestle Dairy in Osgood. After his retirement from Cummins in 1987, he drove a school bus for the South Ripley Schools for 25 years. He enjoyed working on his farm and mowing his yard and could often be seen visiting his neighbors on his scooter.
Jim’s wishes were to be cremated. A private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date at the Tanglewood Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles Fire Department in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
