Jerome “Moe” Huntington

Jerome “Moe” Huntington, 80, of Friendship passed away at 10:15 a.m., Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born at Friendship on August 11, 1938, the son of Wilkie and Lulu Uhlman Huntington. 

Survivors include one brother Gene Huntington of Friendship; two nephews Tim (Jennifer) Huntington of Friendship and Mark (Mary) Huntington of Batesville; two nieces Jennie (Chris) Grider of North Vernon, and Gena (Roger) Gullion of Dewberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Larry “Whitey” Huntington. 

Moe enlisted in the US Army on October 3, 1961 and served with the 14th Battalion of the 2nd Armored Division. He was discharged with the rank of SP4 on October 2, 1963. After his service in the military Mr. Huntington worked for 59 years for his brother at Whitey’s Auto Repair in Friendship, retiring in 2016. Moe also farmed and one of his greatest enjoyments was making up to 300 lbs. of candy each Christmas and delivering it to his friends. 

Funeral services for Moe will be held today, Thursday, February 28 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Olean. Memorials may be given to the NMLRA or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
