Joyce A. Demetriades

Joyce A. Demetriades, age 82, of New Haven, passed away at 1:10 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born near Osgood on May 12, 1938, the daughter of Paul and Norma Pendergast Black. She was married to Nick Demetriades on June 5, 1960 and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1995. Survivors include two sons Michael (Belinda) Demetriades of Brownsburg and Chris Demetriades of Garrett; one daughter Cathy (Dan) McGuire of Ft. Wayne; 4 grandchildren Cayla (Reid) Yoder, Spencer (Michelle) Davidson, Clayton Pusey and Nick Demetriades; one great-grandson Will Yoder; two sisters Geneva Kennedy of Versailles and Shirla Jones of Napoleon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Mark Pusey, her brothers Roy, Paul Edward, William, Kenneth, Wayne and Melvin Black, and her sisters Emma Lee Beagle, Gladys Back, Berta Jean Menchofer, Mary Sanders, and Wilma Hughes.


Mrs. Demetriades was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a former employee of INDOT, Bower’s Envelope in Indianapolis and retired from the Raytheon Corporation in Ft. Wayne, where she worked in the digitizing department. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and had completed and framed many picture puzzles for her children. She also enjoyed taking care of her dog, Sampson.


Funeral services were held Monday, January 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike Cantrell of the Versailles Baptist Church officiating. Burial was held in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation began Monday at 11:P00 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
