Judith A. “Judy” (Burch) Oeffinger Cole

Mrs. Judith A. “Judy” (Burch) Oeffinger Cole, age 74, of Cross Plains, Indiana, entered this life on August 6, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of Nathan Christopher and Dorothy I. (Beasley) Burch. She was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and was a 1967 graduate of Robert A. Taft High School. Judy was united in marriage to William Carl “Bill” Oeffinger on September 14, 1968. This union was blessed with five children and they shared over 21 years of marriage together until his passing on March 27, 1990. Judy graduated with a nursing degree from Ivy Tech in Madison, Indiana in 1991. Judy was later united in marriage to George L. Cole on August 29, 2001 in Madison, Indiana. Judy and George shared nearly 23 years of marriage together. Judy was a former employee for the Switzerland County Life Squad for 24 years. She was later employed for The Water’s of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana and for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Judy was formerly employed at Gallatin County Nursing Home in Warsaw, Kentucky. Judy was last employed as the school nurse for Jeff-Craig Elementary School in Vevay, Indiana for five years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood, Indiana. Judy was a hard worker and enjoyed her church family and gardening. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved baking. Nana’s last little joy she had was spending time with her great-grandson, Cooper Keenan. Judy passed away at 7:53 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Judy will deeply missed by her husband, George L. Cole of Cross Plains, IN; her sons, Adam Wayne Oeffinger of Jeffersonville, IN and Christopher “Chris” Carl Oeffinger (Jamie) of Indianapolis, IN; her daughter, Kimberly Sue Oeffinger-Reed (Travis) of Cross Plains, IN; her step-daughters, Lisa Ray (Paul) of Vevay, IN and Julee Sanabria (Hector) of Vevay, IN; her step-son, David Cole (Heather) of Geneva, IL; her daughters-in-law, Sarah Oeffinger and Carol Oeffinger; her grandchildren, Brenna Oeffinger (Brian), Mercedes Parham (Thomas), Sierra Hamilton (Tyler), McKayla Oeffinger, Kristina Oeffinger, Jillian Oeffinger, Caleb Oeffinger, Ariel Oeffinger, Keirstan Oeffinger, Terra Oeffinger, Leilah Oeffinger and Jenna Martin; her step-grandchildren, Grant Priest (Abigail), Lauren Cole (D’Andre), Evan Cole, Cainen Sanabria, Cole Zanabria, Eva Zanabria, Estrella Zanabria and Pierce Cole; her several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Nordman of Cincinnati, OH and her several nieces and nephews.      

She was preceded in death by her father, Nathan Christopher Burch; her mother, Dorothy I. (Beasley) Burch; her 1st husband, William Carl “Bill” Oeffinger; her sons, Keith Edward Oeffinger and William Paul “Bill” Oeffinger; her sisters, Laura Jean “Jeannie” Chandler and Phyllis Dean Burch; her brother-in-law, Thomas Nordman; her nieces, Dorotha Hele and Rebecca Madden and her nephew, Allen Chandler. 

Visitation Gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 331 South Buckeye Street, Osgood, Indiana 47037. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, by Father Binu Mathew, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 331 South Buckeye Street, Osgood, Indiana 47037.  

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
