Kaye Hunger

Kaye Hunger, 87, of Benham passed away at 5:45 p.m., Monday, September 11, 2023 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Moorefield in Switzerland County on October 14, 1935, the daughter of Bruce and Patsy Clemons Ralston. She was married to Ernest Lee Hunger on August 21, 1954 and her husband of 69 years survives. Other survivors include one son Bob (Connie) Hunger of Versailles; two daughters Christy (Mike) Swango of Holton and Jennifer (Ralph) Miller of Versailles; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Thomas, and her brother Wayne Ralston.

Mrs. Hunger was a 1953 graduate of Cross Plains High School. She was a homemaker and was also employed with the Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation District where she worked as an office manager for 30 years, retiring in 1999. She had served on the Board of Directors for Historic Hoosier Hills and was a former member of the Ripley County Planning Commission. Kaye was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean where she had served as president of the WELCA. She was also a member of the Benham Card Club. Kaye loved to spend time with, cook for, and take care of her family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 3 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean with Rev. Dr. Evangeline Anderson-Rajkumar officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Cemetery or the Angela Hoskins Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
