Marion L. Fancher, Sr.

Marion L. Fancher, Sr., 84, of Milan, passed away at 10:50 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Vevay on October 22, 1936 the son of Guy and Katherine Webb Fancher. He was married to Wilma Thomas on July 1, 1967 and his wife of 53 years survives. Other survivors include two sons, Marion, Jr. (Heather) of Louisana and Kenny Fancher of Hebron, Kentucky; two daughters, Patricia (Steve) Bonapfel of Melbourne, Kentucky and Brenda (Randy) Haines of Loveland, Ohio; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother Bob Hudson of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.


Mr. Fancher was a former employee of Aurora Casket Company. He also was a truck driver for several years driving for Baylor Trucking, TNT Enterprises and Aikins Trucking in Osgood. He spend 28 years as a loader operator for the Martin-Marietta Quarry in Harrison and went a span of 20 years in which he only missed one day of work. He enjoyed his family and witnessing for the Lord was a priority in his life. Marion was a member of the Hope Baptist Church.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Baptist Church near Dillsboro with Evangelist Phil Gabbard and Pastor John Young officiating. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
