Melanie Le Loxley

Melanie Le Loxley (Cook), 79, formally of Oxford, passed away on April 26, 2019. She was born in Darke County, Ohio on February 9, 1940 to the late Noel Loxley and Mary Harry Loxley.

Melanie worked for the city of Oxford for 18 years, drove a semi-truck, and then worked as a manager of Motel 6. Upon retirement she bought a home in Liberty where she resided for 10 years, until her health issues brought her back to Oxford.

 She loved to travel and drove through 48 states. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats. Melanie was known for her sense of humor and always having a smile on her face.

She is survived by her children, Melissa (Jeff) Gesell and Derek (Natalie) Cook; a sister, Cindy (Ron) Vogel; four grandchildren, Mason Gesell, Emma (Casey) Jones, Emma Mahar and Gabrielle Mahar; and an uncle, Ivan Thornburg.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by, Janet Thornburg; and a great granddaughter, Jocelyn Grace Gesell.

In honoring Melanie’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to your local animal shelter.
