Michael Wade Gilland

Mike W. Gilland, 54, of North Vernon, died at his home Thursday, September 12, 2019. Memorial services for Mr. Gilland, inviting family and close friends, will be held Saturday, October 5 at Greendale Cemetery in Osgood at 12 p.m.

Born in Batesville, Mr. Gilland was the son of Elsie Patterson and Ralph “Boob” Gilland. He was raised in Holton and later moved to Anderson. In his later years, Mike lived in North Vernon, where he owned and operated his own business, Odd Jobs Unlimited, until his death.

He enjoyed many things including spending time with family and friends, fishing, going to flea markets, collecting Hot Wheels, listening to rock and roll and country music, and singing songs.

Mike also enjoyed talking about cars and, in his younger years, driving his race car at the Anderson Speedway.

Survivors include his children, Brandson Watson, Elizabeth (Larz) Swager, and Jackie Atkinson; granddaughters Layla Bright, Khloe Watson and Abigail Watson; nieces and nephews Brandi Gilland, Jessica (Andy) Ashton, Amy Gilland, Darryl Gilland, James Andrew (Joyce) Gilland, Misty Gilland, Kirk Geer, Randy (Samantha) Gilland, Jr. and Rebecca (Ryan Lee) Walsh; brothers Lewis Pate, Bill Hexemer, Randy Gilland, Sr. and Darryl Gilland.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Gilland.
