Ralph Pickett
Ralph R. Pickett, 87, of Holton passed away at 10:45am, Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home. He was born in Holton on September 13, 1933 the son of Klell and Viola Ensinger Pickett. He was married to Lila Chandler and she preceded him in death on June 27, 1993.
Survivors include three sons Greg Pickett and Mark Pickett both of Holton, and David Pickett of Butlerville; two daughters Denise (Charlie) Biddinger of Westport and Julie (Jay) Lambert of Marion, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Delbert.
Mr. Pickett was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class with the 1st Field Maintenance Squadron. For service to his country Ralph received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. In civilian life Ralph was employed with the Forest Hyatt Sawmill at Holton and retired from Cummins in Columbus after 29 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the loyal companionship of his dog Spike. Ralph was a member of the Holton Christian Church and a former member of the Holton Fire Department. He had also served on the Holton Town Board.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial was held at the Holton Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery or Holton Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
