Robert “Bob” Gene Furst, age 87, of Holton passed away early on February 28, 2024. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 5, 1936, the son of the late Harry and Ida (Jackson) Furst.

He was raised in Holton attending and graduating as a Holton “Warhorse”. Bob was as true a Holton lifer, living in the community his entire life. He worked for over 35 years at Arvin in North Vernon. He then spent over 20 years with the Town of Holton, being instrumental in getting sanitary sewers installed and helping guide the building of the community center.

He loved his community and was always there to serve and give. He was a 50 year plus member of the Holton Volunteer Fire Department and a lifelong member of the Holton Methodist Church. He was a true farm boy, loving the land and what it could produce. His family was his pride and joy and he spent free time enjoying doing woodwork.

Bob will be dearly missed by wife Peggy of almost 50 years, daughters; Lori Eder, Rebecca Hon, and Susan Driver, son Doug (Donna) Furst, grandchildren Bailey, Logan, Dylan, Hope, Kennedi, Michael, Amber, Anthony, Amanda, Ryan, Robert, and Jamie, along with several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jay Buell, grandsons Derreck and Christopher, along with granddaughter Amanda.

A visitation was held on Monday March 4 from 11 am. -1 pm., at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services were held on Monday as well at 1 pm., also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holton Cemetery. Memorials can be given in care of the funeral home to the Holton Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be placed at Nealsfuneralhome.net
