Ronald Lee Higham

Mr. Ronald Lee Higham, age 72, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on July 19, 1947 in Milan, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Ralph L. Higham and Laura Mae Bachmann Higham Melson.


He graduated from Aurora High School and was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church. He was inducted into the United States Army on August 2, 1967 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana during the Vietnam War. He served in HQ 5/42 Artillery Unit and was honorably discharged on April 4, 1969 at Oakland, California receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
He was united in marriage on June 7, 1969 to Sharon Sue Sebree at the Aberdeen United Methodist Church. This union was blessed with daughter, Michelle and sons, Richard, William and Andy. Ronald worked many years as a heavy equipment operator for Bennett Construction in Aurora. Ronald resided in South Carolina for several years and was united in marriage to Norma and this union was blessed with a son, Randy. He had resided in Madison the past ten years and worked for Will’s Auto Care. Ronald enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, camping and tinkering on cars. Ronald died on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana.


Ronald will be missed by his sons, Richard Lee “Ricky” Higham and his wife, Amanda of Hanover, William “Billy” Carroll and his wife, Andrea of Bright, and Andrew “Andy” Brown of Harrison, Randy Higham of Aynor, South Carolina; his daughter, Michelle Lynn Geisler and her husband, Kevin of Madison; his grandchildren, Devin, Travis, Eric, Abel, Amanda, Katelynn, Tristen, Bradley, Samantha, Justin, Gracie, and Evelyn; his great-grandchildren, Addyson and Hannah; his brother, Melvin Higham and his wife, Sandy of Rising Sun; his aunt, Eleanor Higham of Wilmington; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph L. Higham, died 2002, his mother, Laura Mae Bachmann Higham Melson, died 2009, his brother, Leroy Higham, his first wife, Sharon Sue Sebree Higham, died December 11, 2005, and his last wife, Norma Higham.


Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, #1415 North Gate Road in Madison. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel. A final salute and military honors will be conducted on Thursday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
