Post 173 shooters defeat Jasper

The Versailles American Legion Post 173 junior shooting team was back to regular season action this past Saturday, defeating Jasper as part of a dual match.
Versailles fielded two complete teams in the matchup while Jasper had a total of 12 shooters that was split into three teams. Post 173 saw its No. 1 team score a 989-17 for the win while Jasper’s No. 1 squad was runner-up at 864-7.
The No. 2 Versailles team scored an 829-10 for third place and Jasper’s No. 2 and No. 3 squads finished fourth and fifth with scores of 753-2 and 269-1 respectively.
The quartet of Anna Block, Phil Baumgartner, Maria Vittoria Belisardi and Lilly Guerra made up the No. 1 team for Versailles with Block finishing as the top individual in the match with a 252-3. Baumgartner was second overall at 248-5, Belisardi placed fourth with a 245-5 and Guerra finished fifth at 244-4. Two other shooters from Post 173 were also inside the Top 10 as sixth place was occupied by Chloe Grable (235-4) and Brooklyn Boyd was eighth (209-2). Katie Miller and Quinn Faust totaled scores of 193-1 and 192-3 respectively to wrap up scoring for the local group.
Block would earn top honors in the prone and standing portions of the shoot and Baumgartner was first in the kneeling shoot. Several other Versailles shooters would earn spots inside the top five in each respective category by the end of the day.
