Indians claim Pride Trophy in OT

The last time Milan boys basketball had possession of the Ripley Publishing Pride Trophy? It has been a few years, but Thursday night saw the trophy back with the black and gold as the Indians stunned Jac-Cen-Del at home by a 71-68 final in overtime.
Not only did the victory give Milan the Pride Trophy but also allowed them to snap a seven-game losing skid to Jac-Cen-Del that had dated back to the 2019-2020 season.
Quarter scoring and Milan statistics were not provided by time of print in regards to Thursday’s contest. Jac-Cen-Del had three players score in double figures as Brady Comer finished with 21 points, Caleb White had 13 points and Clark Dwenger added 10 points. Landon Asche and Landon Kohlman scored seven points and six points respectively, Carson Hughes put in three points and Brady Borgman rounded out scoring with two points.
Milan stepped away from the Ohio River Valley Conference slate on Saturday, falling 73-42 at Hauser in a battle of Class 2A Sectional 45 teams. Statistics from that game were not provided by time of print.
The Indians (2-18, 2-3 ORVC) are home tonight for an ORVC battle against Shawe Memorial before heading to Union County on Friday to end the regular season. Jac-Cen-Del (9-12, 2-2 ORVC) was home on Monday night against Switzerland County in a conference game and visits South Ripley on Friday.
