The 2024-2025 high school wrestling season is underway and already both Milan and Batesville have come away with some impressive performances on the mat.
Each school has racked up numerous wins while multiple have also achieved major individual accolades. Both Batesville and Milan competed at the same event on Saturday as the Indians hosted a seven-team invitational.
The Indians went 6-0 on Saturday, defeating Batesville, Rushville, Union County, Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn and Greensburg. Milan’s Cameron Gilb was a winner inside the 175-pound class and in the process nabbed his 100th career high school win and Batesville’s Damien Dance also picked up his 100th career win at the event en route to an unbeaten 6-0 day.
Five others for Milan and two from Batesville went unbeaten and earned first place finishes. Matthew Baylor, Dillan Engel, Jayden Disbro, Kaleb Wilburn and Zane Richardson were all winners for the Indians while Max Amberger and Adam Brewer were winners for the Bulldogs.
Two other notable performances from the two schools were had prior to the invitational at Milan. Amberger recorded his 100th career win for Batesville in a meet at Madison and Milan’s Kayla Roell was first in the 120-pound class at the annual Gobbler Invitational which coincided with the Thanksgiving holiday.
Batesville competes at Rushville on Saturday and Milan is in Ohio that same day for the Panther Invitational.
