Two Ripley county rivals on the gridiron will now share the same uniform this summer as Batesville’s Gage Pohlman and Milan’s Landon Stanley have been selected to play in the 59th Annual Murat Shrine North/South Football All-Star Classic coming up in July.
The event, sponsored by the Indiana Football Coaches Association, is the biggest offseason event in the state which officially wraps up the 2024 high school football season.
Pohlman, a senior running back, is Batesville’s first North/South selection since Matt Kreiger in 2007 per Bulldog head coach Evan Ulery. The school’s all-time leading rusher posted 11 touchdowns on 200 carries and 1,306 yards while also nabbing a couple touchdown catches off throws from quarterback Will Jaisle. Pohlman’s accolade wraps up an offseason in which he received All-EIAC honors to go along with an All-State selection.
Stanley, a senior offensive lineman, proved vital for a Milan offense that was able to go through the gaps and average 30 points per game. A two-time all-state selection, Stanley’s talents are set to go to Mount Saint Joseph University next fall and play for a Lions team that was an NCAA Division III National Playoff team this past season.
The All-Star Game will be held on July 11 at Decatur Central High School. North/South participants head to Indianapolis on July 8 and will take part in three days worth of workouts and practice sessions at the University of Indianapolis.
