On Friday, May 2, Milan High School celebrated “Best Effort Day” at the Daren Baker Memorial Park, throughout the town of Milan and around the schools in Milan with some of their best effort students. These students give their best effort in school and to reward MHS students, they planned a community service day. To qualify for this event, students must have no D’s or F’s, no unexcused absences and no suspensions. Sophie Riehle, Milan Freshman, stated to The Versailles Republican, “I volunteered to do Best Effort Day. It is fun and I love painting.” Grace Bedel, Junior stated, “We divided up into groups to paint, mulch and other activities. We are dividing and conquering!”
The students were released from school to participate in various community service activities. Students enjoyed this privilege, and it was good for students to invest some pride in the community, The students were supervised and had pizza for lunch from Nickelos. The students put on some work clothes and came out for a day of reward and team building with other classmates. Bonnie Hoffrogee, Milan Junior, stated to The Versailles Republican, “We get good grades. We are good kids too, not only good in the classroom but good outside to the community.”
These students really got to show their community support that day. Not only good effort students but genuine good humans that wanted to help the community. Seth Thomas, Milan Freshman stated, “Great experience helping out the community!” JJ Mutz, Milan Sophomore, concluded with The Versailles Republican, “Community does a lot for us, so we wanted to do as much as we can.
