Raider boys regain “Coach Mo” Trophy

South Ripley boys soccer captured the “Coach Mo” trophy back from Jac-Cen-Del on Monday night. The five goals by the Raiders were a season-high.
An annual affair on the boys soccer pitch that combines a rivalry with a bond for beloved coach saw South Ripley come out on top Monday night as the Raiders defeated Jac-Cen-Del 5-2 in an Ohio River Valley Conference showdown.
With the win, the Raiders recaptured the “Coach Mo” Trophy, the traveling hardware between the two schools that honors the late Matt Obendorf, a former soccer coach and mentor to the two schools.
South Ripley has now won four of its last six matches and Monday night’s match was the highest output of offense this season for the green and white. Bryson Sipples paced such an effort with a three-goal hat trick plus a successful penalty kick to total four scores on the evening. His first goal just 37 seconds into the match set the tone.
Shawn Riehle added the final Raider goal while senior Marc Miller tallied three assists. Goalkeeper Thomas Eaglin earned the win in the net.
Parker Pindell and Connor Yeggy each recorded a goal for Jac-Cen-Del. The duo took four shots apiece. Berkley Williams had 13 saves in the net while Gavin Sevier notched four saves.
South Ripley (5-3-1, 1-3-1 ORVC) was home against Southwestern (Hanover) on Wednesday for a conference match. Jac-Cen-Del (0-11, 0-4 ORVC) was at Milan that same day.
