Riehle wins Great Pumpkin Invite

Milan’s Gabe Riehle was the individual winner at Thursday night’s Great Pumpkin Invitational in Versailles. Riehle is unbeaten in the eight races he has ran as part of his senior campaign.
An annual Versailles Pumpkin Show staple saw a Milan runner continue his dominant ways as a senior and it was Gabe Riehle having no trouble racing to a win at Thursday night’s Great Pumpkin Invitational.
The race was Riehle’s eighth victory of the season as he remains unbeaten in those eight races he has run in a black and gold uniform.
Riehle’s win on Thursday in the boys meet came in a time of 16:33, winning by over 20 seconds. Teammate Lucas Cooney ran fourth overall in 17:40. Six complete teams raced but all three coverage area schools did not qualify for a team score. Hauser was the winner of the meet with 28 points.
63 total runners ran in the boys race. Milan’s Tyler Myers was 19th in 19:36 and Seth Thomas was 35th at 21:19. South Ripley’s top runner was Carter Yelton in 15th at 19:20 and Domonic Carter was 30th in 20:47. Saxton Hite and Ronan Kearney rounded out the Raiders in 39th and 54th respectively 21:39 and 25:29.
Jac-Cen-Del’s only two runners were Tyler Miller and Joseph Burford in times of 24:28 and 29:34. Miller was 53rd and Burford was 61st.
South Ripley’s girls were the only coverage area team with a score on Thursday, putting together 49 points. North Decatur won the girls invitational with 38 points and South Dearborn scored 41 points for second place. Switzerland County’s Claire Boggs was the individual winner in a time of 21:24.
Milan’s Hannah Cooney was fifth overall out of 41 runners in a time of 23:07 and teammate Elly Potts was 10th at 24:31. Kami Laws was the final Lady Indian runner in 19th at 26:06.
South Ripley’s Ashlyn Thieman picked up an 11th place spot in 24:55 and teammate Jocelyn Goddard finished two spots back at 25:03. The final three Lady Raider runners were Sophia Messer in 31st at 28:05, Kaiden Bradley 35th in 30:55 and Josie Beardon 41st in 36:41. Jac-Cen-Del’s Julia Ricke and Elizabeth Burford placed 23rd and 37th respectively in times of 26:53 and 31:57.
The next local cross country meet is tonight at the Batesville Invitational.
