Tis’ the Season: The 12 Days of Giving
Amy Davidson
Chris Combs and Theresa Parker of The Quilters Nook, were getting ready for the kickoff for the Twelve Days of Giving. Donations will be taken at the shop located in Versailles on US 421 S. now through December 14.
The Quilter’s Nook is doing a 12 days of giving collection this holiday season for South Ripley Elementary School. This is a tradition the local business is bringing back to the community initially that they did eight years ago.
Chris Combs told The Versailles Republican that after speaking with her pastor’s wife of Hopewell Baptist Church, Brittany Koors, who is a counselor at South Ripley Elementary about expressing the need for assistance in the school to help children in need, Combs knew she wanted to contribute. Combs stated, “We wanted to ask our community to help with the children’s everyday needs. We wanted to help the little guys.”
The Quilter’s Nook will be collecting much needed items for students in need. For each item collected, The Quilter’s Nook will be donating a dollar to the school for future purchases of necessary supplies for children. Combs stated to The Versailles Republican, “This will help buy more gifts for children. I say Tis’ the season, the more the merrier!” Also, as a give back from the support of the community, The Quilter’s Nook will give out a $10 gift certificate that will be redeemable in the month of January for every collection donation brought in during the drive.
The donation drive will run Nov. 29 thru Dec. 14. You can donate reusable water bottles, ChapStick, headphones (earbuds or over-the-head), hygiene products: deodorant, hair ties, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, fruity kids’ toothpaste, closed-toe shoes sizes 10-5 (can be new or gently used).
The Quilter’s Nook is the drop off location for all items and the business will deliver to the school. If you have any questions, contact them at 812-689-0980.
