Bulldogs run record to 3-0
Batesville boys basketball is now 3-0 on the season and in the process picked up an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference victory on Friday night, going on the road to win 61-40 at Lawrenceburg.
The Bulldogs open the year on a three-game win streak for the first time since the 2016-2017 campaign.
intense defense for 32 minutes wore down Lawrenceburg (2-1, 1-1 EIAC) and did so rather quickly while on the flip side it was Batesville picking its spots to shine on offense. The Bulldogs biggest run of the night was a 17-6 spot in the second quarter that allowed the blue and white a double figure lead the rest of the evening. That was followed by a 13-8 run and 19 points in the fourth quarter that staved off a late Tiger comeback attempt.
Batesville had three players score in double figures, led by James Hughes with 16 points. Seniors Brayden Maple and Ethan Schneider tallied 14 points and 11 points respectively. Levi Hunt and Kamryn Holcomb each added five points.
Holcomb grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and Maple added eight rebounds and five assists. Luers dished out a team-high seven assists and James Hughes paced the defense with four steals.
Lawrenceburg was led by Kaleb Cole with nine points. Landen Nagele and Ollie Safaviyan each had eight points.
Batesville (3-0, 1-0 EIAC) battles Milan on Thursday night at home in a county rivalry showdown and then heads to East Central on Saturday evening.
