Bulldogs set for golf regional
Batesville boys golf is regional bound for a second-straight year and is vying for one of three tickets to the IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals.
Uphill climb is not the best term so let’s just say a trip to the state finals for Batesville boys golf will require quite the competitive effort this week as the Bulldogs gear up for the IHSAA Boys Golf Regional today.
Tee times begin at 8 a.m. today at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville. Providence High School is the host school for the regional.
15 teams are vying for the top three spots in the standings in order to qualify for the state finals. Of that 15, two stand out given their state ranking through the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association. The regional favorite will be ninth-ranked Center Grove while also in contention is No. 16 Franklin Community. With that being said, Batesville has competed against both this season and knows what it will take to go hole-for-hole with the duo.
Aside from those three teams, Indianapolis Roncalli, Union County, Richmond, Franklin County and Columbus North all head to Champions Pointe. The field is rounded out by Shelbyville, Scottsburg, Southwestern (Hanover), Jennings County, Floyd Central and New Albany. Also competing are several individuals from other schools who were the top three on the individual leaderboard among non-qualifying regional teams.
The top three individuals from non-qualifying state teams will get the chance to go to the state finals as an individual golfer.
