2026 4-H fair comes to a close

After the pieing, Mark and Scott Rohls, along with Miss Ripley County / 4-H Queen Callie Comer and 4-H King Austin Ronnebaum gathered for a quick photo. But you can see they weren’t quite ready to put the pies to rest yet!
On Friday, July 24, at the Ripley County 4-H Auction, the bidding took a pause. The Junior 4-H Club hosted a penny war between their barn leaders to raise money for the Stock the Trailer Initiative. After raising $1531 between the barns, it was decided that the Swine Barn raised the most money and that meant their leaders got to be pied. Mark Rohls (Swine Superintendent for the Ripley County 4-H) and Scott Rohls (Swine Project Leader) were the lucky (or perhaps… Unlucky, depending on who you ask!) receivers of having pie delivered to them by 4-H King Austin Ronnebaum and Queen Callie Comer. But the men didn’t go down without a fight! Later, the Junior 4-H’ers announced that along with the money, they had many donations of food items. In total, they raised 2600 pounds of food, which were layer donated to local food pantries in the county.
