Lady Bulldogs fourth at New Albany
11th ranked Batesville girls golf once again put itself up to an early season test this past weekend and ended its Saturday with a fourth place finish in the New Albany Invitational at Valley View Golf Club.
No. 9 Center Grove cruised to a 13-stroke win, putting together an 18-hole team score of 303. Floyd Central, ranked 10th, was runner-up with a 316 and Evansville North sat third at 352.
Batesville tied Evansville North’s score but was handed fourth place based on a tiebreaker. New Albany rounded out the top five after scoring a 361. 16 teams took part in the invitational.
While the Lady Bulldogs were not a team winner, the blue and white did boast the individual champion as sophomore Stella Maple earned medalist honors with an impressive 18-hole one-under par score of 70. Teammate Alexis Gallagher was next with an 87, Grace Saner had a 95 and Adelyne Koehne rounded out the team scoring with a 100.
Makenna Moore’s 111 and Caroline Wiedeman’s 123 came as part of a non-scoring round.
Batesville was at the annual IHSAA Fall State Preview on Monday and is on the road today for an afternoon match against Columbus East.
