Fire rages through home south of Versailles

A home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning, February 13 after a blaze broke out after 9:00 a.m. James and Jennifer Dowers and their children lived in the home at 2846 W. 800 S., which is about eight miles south of Versailles east of US 421.
Versailles Fire Dept. was in command at the scene and were assisted by several other fire departments including New Marion, Osgood, Friendship and Milan. Aurora Fire Dept. was at the Versailles Fire Station in case of another fire in the area.
One person was injured and treated at the scene according to Chief Ben Sieverding. A cause had not been determined at press time.
