Welcome to Spring photo contest

After a long winter, we are ready for the brightness, warmth, and hope of spring! This contest invites local photographers (and “picture-takers” too!) to share your favorite  local spring season-inspired photographs with our readers. If you have captured a photograph, present or past, that exudes the vibrancy and freshness of spring, we invite you to participate by submitting one of your favorite photos. For specific details, please read below:

Contest timeline

1. Submission deadline: Thursday, April 4 (12:00 noon)
2. Finalist photos will publish in the Thursday, April 18 issue of the Versailles Republican. Public voting opens same day.
3. Public voting deadline: Tuesday, April 23 (noon).
4. Contest results will be announced in the Thursday, April 25 issue of the Versailles Republican.

Submission guidelines

      1.  No cost to participate.

2.  Must email .jpg / .jpeg or .tiff files to publication@ripleynews.com No other file types or submission places will be accepted.  Please include your name and town along with the date, location and description of the photo.

3.  Photo must be submitted by noon on Thursday, April 4. No late entries will be accepted.

Each participant may submit one local spring photo only. Photos should be ready to print in the newspaper and display online.

4.  A photographer may only submit his/her own work.

5.  By participating in the contest, you give Ripley Publishing Company the right to publish your photograph in our newspaper without a photo credit during the public voting window. Finalist’s photos will be published again after the contest along with a name credit for each photographer.

Judging

          Public voting will open  on Thursday, April 18 and run through noon on Tuesday, April 23. Voting takes place at www.ripleynews.com and on newspaper ballots that can be turned into our office.  One vote per person.

The photograph with the most votes wins. The winning photograph will appear on the front page of the Thursday, April 25 issue of the Versailles Republican. Finalist’s photos will be reprinted inside in order to give name credit to each photographer participating in the contest.

Prizes

1. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and have their photograph featured on the front page of the Thursday, April 25 issue of the Versailles Republican.
