According to Cathy Volz, Ripley County Treasurer, fall property taxes are due November 12. Her office will be open Monday, November 4 through Friday, November 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will not be staying open late, but there are other convenient ways to pay your taxes. There is a drop box located on the sidewalk or you can pay online with a credit card, debit card or by e-check by going to www.ripleycounty.com.

The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce, under the direction of Amy Thomas, held its largest annual dinner and awards ceremony last week on October 24 at the Saint Florian, Osgood. There were many moving parts to the Denim & Diamonds themed event that brought out a record crowd. The door opened at 5 p.m. and the event was in full swing until around 10 p.m.

When you go to bed Saturday night, November 2, don’t forget to set your clock back one hour. Otherwise, you will be early for Sunday events! Officially, time goes back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, November 3. Fire chiefs across the county remind residents this is a good time to check smoke detectors, make sure batteries are working, along with carbon monoxide detectors.
