Harold “Mick” James Edwards, Sr.

Harold “Mick” James Edwards, Sr. of Versailles passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the age of 88. He was surrounded by his family at his time of death.  Mick was born on October 11, 1931 to the late Harry and Bethel (Gray) Edwards in Saginaw, Michigan. 

After finishing school, Mick proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed in both Japan and Korea.  Upon completion of his time in the service, he entered the workforce.  He spent 40 years working as a railroad conductor for CXS Railroad.  

Mick was married to the late Vivian Jeanne Degroat.  They would spend over 50 years together until her passing in 2004.  He was able to find love again marrying Marian Forwalt and they have enjoyed the last 16 years together.

Mick enjoyed creating woodwork pieces, solving crossword puzzles, and target shooting. He had a passion for the outdoors and camping was a favorite way of enjoying that.  He had a love for all the M&M candy, often he was found with his favorite peanut butter M&M’s.

Mick is survived by wife Marian Edwards; son Harold J. (Luci) Edwards of Arizona; daughter Cynthia (Rick) Bidar of Kentwood, MI; sister Margaret; stepdaughter Stefanie (Matt) Alering of Versailles; granddaughters Kelley R. (George)  Cumming, Letha (Martin) Robles, Nicole Huskey, Rachel Huskey, and LJ McQueen; and grandsons Rick (Abigail) Miller, Harold J. (Korey) Edwards III, Samuel G. (Crystal) Edwards, and Dillan McQueen, along with numerous great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by wife Vivian Edwards, daughter Andrea Luplow, step-daughter Lana Huskey, brother Harry Edwards, and sisters Delphine, Betty, Elcina, and Ruth.

Visitation was held on Monday August 17 at Neals Funeral Home in Osgood, with funeral services also held Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Association in Saginaw, MI on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
