Denise Goodpaster
Denise Goodpaster, 66, of Versailles, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2020 at her home. She was born at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville on September 18, 1954, the daughter of Alfred and Jean O’Day Adkins. She was married to Robert Goodpaster on February 25, 1989 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Annie Goodpaster of Versailles, her mother Jean Adkins of Versailles; five brothers Tracy Adkins of Versailles, Tom (Normalene) Adkins of Vevay, Tim Adkins of Madison, Ted Adkins of Modesto, California and Pat Adkins of Akron, Ohio; one sister Melissa May of Versailles along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Garrett, her father and her brother Michael. Mrs. Goodpaster was a 1972 graduate of South Ripley High School. She was employed with the NMLRA in Friendship for 39 years, retiring in 2012. After her retirement, Denise served as a substitute teacher in special needs for the elementary and high school at South Ripley. Denise was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church, the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the NMLRA.
Funeral services for Denise will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Mullins and Rev. Becky Pohle officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, November 27 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given in Denise’s name to the Special Olympics in care of the funeral home.

To comply with guidelines, there is a maximum number of 25 people that are allowed into the funeral home at one time. Funeral home staff will be assisting with this so that everyone has a chance to pay their respects in a safe and reverent manner.
