George Poole

George Thomas Poole, 83, of Moores Hill, was called home to his creator and was reunited with his beloved wife of 50 years, Kay Poole, on January 12, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg. George was born in Ripley, Ohio, on September 30, 1937. He is the son of Mike and Mable (Howell) Poole. George married Kay Jett on November 14, 1964, in Ripley, Ohio. Kay preceded him in death on January 10, 2015. Survivors include one son, Derek Poole and his wife, Lindsay Poole, of Redondo Beach, California, his two grandchildren, Quincy Kay and Walker Joseph, one brother, Marion Poole, of Ripley, Ohio and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and half-siblings.

Mr. Poole was a 1955 graduate of Ripley High School and he served his country in the Marines from 1955 – 1959. He was a retired Model Maker/Designer for Hill-Rom for 29 years and owner-operator of Accu-Form Plastics for 25 years.

George loved spending time with his grandkids in person, either in Indiana or California, and seeing them on FaceTime as much as possible! When he wasn’t with family, he enjoyed spending time with his loving and loyal friends and was an active member of the Moores Hill Church of Christ. George filled his time watching high school basketball/football, taking care of his land and animals, cooking barbecue and making funnel cakes for the community.

George was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed in his close-knit community. George’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services at this time. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
