Eileen Marie (Kelly) Davies

Eileen Marie (Kelly) Davies

Eileen Marie (Kelly) Davies, 89, of Dillsboro passed away Thursday, January 21. 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Eileen was born at her family’s home on their farm on Friday, March 20, 1931 to James Ellis Kelly and Romana (Lenover) Kelly. In 1949, she graduated from Dillsboro High School and later went on to marry Charles Francis Davies on Saturday, January 6, 1951. They recently were able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary together this year. Eileen spent many years as a social worker and a homemaker. She was a member for many years at Dillsboro United Methodist Church and most recently of Hope Baptist Church. Eileen was a lady of many interests and hobbies. She always appreciated a good book and would often read several in just one week. Eileen made jewelry and had a special love for genealogy. She and Charles enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, where they lived for many years. Over the course of Eileen’s lifetime, she raised many animals-even trying her hand at beekeeping at some point. Keeping her mind sharp, Eileen was always up to date on current events and what was happening in the world around her.

Eileen is survived by her husband, Charles Davies of Dillsboro; son David Davies (Pam) of Dillsboro; Teresa Davies Aldrich (Ross) of Terrace Park, Ohio and Rebecca Sue Davies (Dana Bascom) of Dillsboro; grandchildren Curtis Aldrich, Dustin Aldrich, David-Michael Davies, Natasha Gilmour, Ty Fuchs and Garrett Bascom; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Romana Kelly.
