Dale John Waters, 73 of Greensburg, passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 24, 1948 in Greensburg, the son of John August and Mary Margaret (Youngman) Waters. He had lived in Napoleon and has been a resident of Decatur County for a majority of his life.


He graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School in 1966. He retired from Delta Faucet after 34 years and then from Valeo in 2012 after 6 years of service. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and the VFW post #9987 in Napoleon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, antiquing, working in the woods and his grandchildren. He was a veteran having served with the US Army from 1968 until 1970. He married Janet Sue Kendall in Millhousen on August 9, 1969. She survives, along with his daughter, Melissa (Mike) Kendall of Canaan; his brother, Michael “Tony” (Kelly) Waters of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Tarra (Josh) Linville of Shelbyville and Cody Shafer of Greensburg; his great grandsons, Mason Shafer and Paxton Linville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his great granddaughter, Sophia Shafer and his brother, Larry Waters.


A memorial service with military rites will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Father John Meyer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
