JoAnn Poling Jones
Mrs. JoAnn Poling Jones, age 89, of Canaan, Indiana entered this life on May 5, 1932 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Raymond and Darlene Hayes Poling. She was raised in the Pleasant community and graduated from Central High School in 1950. She moved to Indianapolis and worked at RCA in Indianapolis for a time. On October 15, 1955 she was united in marriage to Grover Jones in Madison. This happy union of 59 years was blessed with daughters, Patricia and Teresa. They resided for a time in Indianapolis and moved back to Pleasant to farm. She worked for several years at the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Vevay and Osgood. On the farm she milked the cows and sold milk, raised chickens and sold eggs and made homemade butter and sold it as well. She enjoyed working right along side of her husband on the farm. She was a faithful member of the Concord Wesleyan Church in Ripley County and after moving in with her daughter she attended North Madison Christian Church. JoAnn liked to sew and made clothes for her daughters, loved gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, vacationing with her family, listening to old country music and Elvis. A shopping trip with her daughters always brought joy to her heart. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, sister, grandma and great grandma, time spent with family brought her the most joy. JoAnn died on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 12:30 pm at the Water’s of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.
JoAnn will be missed by her loving daughters, Patricia “Patty” Jones of Madison, Indiana, Teresa Ferguson of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren, Brenden Ferguson, Joel Ferguson and his wife, Miranda, and Alex Ferguson and his wife, Rachel; her great grandchildren, Millie Ferguson and Forrest Ferguson; her loving sisters, Belvadean Strimple of Versailles, Indiana, Genevieve “Jean” Grills of Versailles, Indiana; her loving brothers, George Poling and his wife, Ann of Versailles, Indiana, David Poling and his wife, Diane of Madison, Indiana, Carroll Poling and his wife, Elaine of Canaan, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Poling, September 24, 1978, her mother, Darlene Hayes Poling, died November 6, 1986 and her beloved husband of 59 years, Grover Jones, died October 26, 2014.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Jerry Vandervort at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles, Indiana. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
