Fall Sports are a go

This past weekend brought about the first official practice for one fall sport but now the entire slate of teams is preparing for battle as the 2022 high school fall sports season has commenced around the state.
Girls golf began practice on July 29 and the first official athletic contests for the coverage area were scheduled for the beginning of this week. Batesville’s girls golfers were scheduled to be at the Richmond Invitational on Monday and then slated to be at the Union County Invitational today. The rest of the area begins golfing shortly after.
Jac-Cen-Del girls golf begins on Thursday and is on the road against Switzerland County and Shawe and South Ripley follows on Friday against both of those teams alongside Southwestern (Hanover). Oldenburg competes in the Greensburg Invitational on Saturday and Milan does not open until August 11 when they play Jac-Cen-Del, South Ripley and Shawe.

Milan- Boys Tennis, August 15, at Jennings County; Girls Soccer, August 15, vs Switzerland County; Volleyball, August 16, vs South Dearborn; Boys Soccer, August 16, vs Jac-Cen-Del; Cross Country, August 17, at Rising Sun; Football- August 19, at Rushville.
Oldenburg Academy- Girls Soccer, August 9, at Triton Central; Boys Soccer, August 13, at International; Boys Tennis, August 16, vs Trinity Lutheran; Volleyball, August 17, at Switzerland County; Cross Country, August 20, at Richmond Invitational.
South Ripley- Volleyball, August 15, at Batesville; Boys Soccer, August 18, vs Milan; Girls Soccer, August 18, at Switzerland County; Cross Country, August 25, at South Decatur.
Coverage of fall sports begins in Thursday’s Versailles Republican and will extend through the early portion of November. Coaches and athletic directors in the coverage area have been contacted about reporting results to include their respective teams in upcoming editions of the newspaper.
