Decatur County claims SEISA title
The Milan Aquatics swim program goes over some last minute instructions prior to the SEISA Championships last week. Milan won six titles at the event and finished runner-up as a team.
A summer of competitive swim in the month of June for area youth came to an end this past weekend as the Decatur County Sharks repeated as Southeastern Indiana Swimming Association champions.
The meet on Saturday was held in Greensburg. Decatur County took the top spot with a team score of 2076 points.
Milan’s Aquatics program swam to a runner-up finish with 1596 points and Batesville was third at 1334 points. Rounding out the field in order was Jefferson County, Hidden Valley, South Dearborn and Switzerland County. Points were combined from both boys and girls portions of the championship.
44 swimmers competed for Milan and the Aquatics were conference champions in six events. In Boys 10U action, Brody Stock swam to three wins, claiming the backstroke, butterfly and 100 freestyle. His two sisters were also winners. Taylor Stock won the Girls 14U 100 individual medley and Lainey Stock was a winner in the Girls 18U 100 freestyle.
James Laws rounded out Milan winners. Laws won the Boys 8U breaststroke.
Second place finishers for the Aquatics included Archer Austin, Millie Griffith Caudill, Kaitlynn Hicks, Addy Laws, Kami Laws, Ross Lieland and Dylan O’Neil. Taking third place spots were Bridget Beiser, Ashlyn DeWire, Levi DeWire, Ava Mutz, Cooper Mutz, Seth Thomas and Alec Volz.
Individual finishers for Batesville were not provided by time of print.
Local swimmers have two options for the remainder of the offseason. Some will participate in Swim USA meets throughout the state while others may opt to individually prepare for the 2026-2027 swim season.
