Kynadee Bode’s dominance in the circle has hit an all-time high. The Milan senior has thrown a no-hitter or perfect game in her last three outings and the Lady Indians are one win away from 20 wins on the season heading into this week.
A no-hitter last Monday against South Ripley … what could be better? How about a perfect game against Lawrenceburg on Tuesday … Ok, but then what? You know what, just throw another no-hitter on Thursday night against Hauser.
That’s exactly the kind of dominant week Milan senior ace Kynadee Bode had inside the circle and perhaps the most impressive stretch of pitching the coverage area has ever seen also paved the way for the Class A No. 2 Lady Indians to extend their winning streak to six games.
After beating South Ripley 11-0, Milan was a 10-0 winner at home against Lawrenceburg and a 13-0 victor at Hauser.
Against one of the area’s better teams in Lawrenceburg, Bode’s perfect game saw her sit down 15 batters in a row on just 48 pitches. In five innings of work, she struck out nine. Two evenings later, a Bode no-hitter against Hauser saw 18 batters faced in five frames. She struck out 12 in the process and walked three.
Of course offense had to back up the pitching. Milan scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and added three runs in the bottom of the fourth and a run in the fifth to win via the 10-run mercy rule.
Emma Voss was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI and Mallory Eaglin drove in three runs on a double and a single. McKenna Eaglin added two hits, two runs and two RBI and Braelyn Drew was 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI. Brooklyn Bledsoe and Kynadee Bode each had a hit and run driven in.
The Lady Indians erupted for 11 runs in the top of the third inning against Hauser which triggered the mercy rule in the fifth inning. Bode bashed a home run to aid her no-hitter and was 2-for-2 with a double, homer, six RBI and a run scored. Jillianne Herd clubbed three hits and scored twice and Bledsoe was 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Voss’s two hits and two runs added to the cause and Lillyan Gilbert drove in two runs on a double. Braelyn Drew, McKenna Eaglin and Mallory Eaglin all had a hit apiece.
Milan was at Switzerland County on Monday for an Ohio River Valley Conference game and is on the road against Jennings County today.
