South Ripley hosts home bowling match

Senior bowler Jake Grossman has helped lead his team to a 5-1 record so far this season. At Saturday’s meet, Grossman bowled a high game of 192.

South Ripley bowlers enjoyed a home meet on Saturday, November 9 when they hosted Columbus North and Scottsburg at Pollard’s Bowl in Versailles.

SR bowling coach Ron Pollard commended his girls varsity team on a big comeback victory over the previously undefeated Scottsburg team. With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to a 4-2 record with eight meets remaining in the year.

The Lady Raiders are currently second in their conference, behind the 5-1 Scottsburg team. Seymour sits in third place with a 2-4 record and Columbus North trails in fourth at 1-5.

Opposite of the girls team, the varsity boys held an early lead over Columbus North, only to fall victim to a comeback by the blue and white squad, thus handing the Raiders their first loss of the season.

JV scores included: Luke Fields 129, 167; Travis Benning 65, 81; Adam Voris 75, 71; Eli Liming 120, 101; Joe Gill 180, 160, 128, 149; Reese Swingle 111, 116; Taylor Jordan 74, 76; Logan McGee 120, 141; and Joe Brewington 174, 147.

Prior to the afternoon portion of the meet, Coach Pollard recognized his senior team members, including Adelle Nuxoll, Jasmine Almaraz, Chase Thomas, and Jake Grossman.
