Versailles man hurt in manhole fall
Kaylb Lane and Kaylee Price on Saint Patrick’s Day this past March.
It was April Fool’s Day, but what happened to a Versailles man was no joke. Kaylb Lane, 22, got up like any other day and went to his job on a construction site near Reading, OH.
That day he fell into an approximately 20’ manhole which has left him with multiple broken bones and out of work for who knows how long. He fell feet first into the hole.
Lane told the Osgood Journal he broke his back from the T4 vertebrae down and multiple broken bones in his foot and all his toes dislocated. He agreed it wasn’t the best day he’s had! He has suffered a lot of pain with all the broken bones.
Lane faces a long road to recovery when he will not be able to work. He has several appointments with various orthopedic doctors for his back and foot, along with a regular doctor to monitor his overall health. He agreed going to all the doctor appointments and being off work wasn’t good on the wallet. “I have two appointments this week,” he told the Osgood Journal, saying he is thankful that just yesterday a ramp was installed at his home in Versailles. “It makes it easier to get my wheelchair in and out,” he noted.
This former Milan football player agreed that it was hard to “just sit still” as he navigates the road ahead for a while. He likes to be up and active and was living a full life until the accident.
If you can help this young man out, he will appreciate it. An account has been established at The Friendship State Bank where you can give. Just go to any branch and put it under his name. If you would like to send a check directly to him you can send it to 129 W. Second North St., Versailles, IN 47042.
He makes his home in Versailles with girlfriend, Kaylee Price, who are both graduates of Milan High School.
