Alvin “Dick” Eugene Eckstein, 90, of Hudson, Florida passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 8, 1931 in Madison, Indiana the son of Irene Doyle Eckstein.


Dick graduated from high school and was an operations supervisor at American Electric Power (previously Indiana and Michigan Electric Company). He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. Dick was a member of the Shelburn American Legion. He is preceded in death by his mother.


Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Darlene Miller Eckstein, children; Cassandra (Michael) Stewart of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Barbara Eckstein (Renato Duple) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Brice Eckstein of Palmetto, Florida, Frances (Eddy) Campbell of Alaska, Gloria Bonnell of Hudson, Florida, Rebecca “Becky” Loudermilk of Rockville, Indiana and Angela (Erik) Brewis of Hudson, Florida, seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.


Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sullivan, Indiana with Father John Pfister officiating. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with a Military service by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the Shelburn American Legion Post, American Legion Color Guard, or your local post.
