Andrew “Andy” Hammons

Mr. Larry Andrew “Andy” Hammons, age 50, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on August 16, 1972 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of Larry Harold and Maurcia Lea “Marci” Pyles Hammons. He has resided all of his life in the Jefferson County area and was a 1991 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. In high school, Andy was a member of the FFA and D.E.C.A Club. Andy was blessed with three children, Kylia Jo, Allyson Michelle, and Stephen Parker. He worked with his grandfather Randall as a heavy machine operator for many years. He then began working for GeoTill Engineering in Fishers, Indiana as a driller for six years. Andy then opened his own drilling business, River Valley Drilling. He owned and operated it for over two years until his sudden death. Andy enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, pitching cornhole, and cookouts. He adored his dog Rascal. Andy was a member of the Bear Creek Coon Hunters Club and was once featured in the American Cooner Magazine. Andy died on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Norton’s Hospital in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.


Andy will be missed by his loving father, Larry Harold Hammons of Madison, Indiana; his daughters, Kylia Jo Hammons Johnson and her husband Corey of Deputy, Indiana, and Allyson Michelle Hammons of Ohio; his grandchildren, Braxton Knox, Granger Hammons, and Gavin Hammons; his sister, Regina Braley of Madison, Indiana; his niece, Kendra Braley of Madison, Indiana; his aunts and uncles, Vickie Riggs and her husband George of Rexville, Indiana, Sue Pyles Bladen of Madison, Indiana, and Randy Hammons and his wife Jane of Madison, Indiana; and several cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maurcia Lea “Marci” Pyles Hammons, died January 6, 2008, his son, Stephan “Parker” Knox, died April 10, 2022, his uncle, Floyd “Beetle Bladen, his uncle, Nathan Hammons, died July 9, 1999, his aunts, Jean Robak, Edith Colwell, Ethel Stellman, Judy Colwell, Grace Pyles,, his uncles, Donald Pyles, Roy Pyles, Myron Pyles, and Raymond Pyles, his grandparents, Randall and Mildred Lucille Hammons, and his grandparents, Maurice and Pauline Sharp Pyles.


Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Rod Asher at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison, Indiana.


Friends visited Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
