Carole Ann Michel, 74, of Osgood passed away at 5:20pm, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at her home. She was born in Batesville on April 13, 1948, the daughter of Melvin and Emma Lue Humphrey Michel.


Survivors include her sister Jennifer Schwipps of Milan; her nephew Benjamin (Angela) Schwipps and her niece Amanda (Terry) Allison; great- nephews Ryan and Evan Schwipps, and great-nieces Sadie and Sydney Allison; also her best friends Nancy Smith, Pam Grewe, and Janet Millay. She was preceded in death by her parents.


She was a 1966 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and received her BA degree in 1970, and her MA degree in 1973, both from the University of Evansville. Carole taught physical education for 35 years at Glenwood Middle School in Evansville. She also coached women’s basketball at Harrison High School, Glenwood Elementary and Middle School, and coached women’s track at Glenwood. She loved coaching basketball and enjoyed many years of success with her talented, competitive teams. After returning to Osgood for her retirement years, Carole enjoyed her swimming pool and decorating her pool area with numerous flowers and lighting in preparation for themed pool parties. Her Boston Terriers were the joy of her life.


Carole’s wishes were to be cremated and her life will be celebrated with a private pool party with family and friends. Burial will follow at a later date at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Osgood. Memorials in Carole’s name may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society or the Osgood United Methodist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
