Charles William Davis

Charles William Davis was born in Dearborn County, IN on June 22, 1925, a son of the late Kathryn (Cook) and Charles A. Davis. He was a graduate of Napoleon High School, Class of 1943. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Radioman 3C. While in service, Charles received the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon-2 stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon-1 star and WWII Victory Ribbon. He worked as a Sales Manager at Stedman Foundry, retiring after 35 years of service. Antiquing was something that Charles enjoyed and he owned an antique store in Rising Sun for several years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bear Branch and the Rising Sun American Legion Post 59. Charles married Mary Ann (Wiebking) Davis on September 8th, 1948 at the Napoleon Lutheran Church. Charles and Mary Ann were married over 71 years. Charles passed away on Thursday, July 16th, 2020 at High Point Health in Lawrenceburg, IN.


Charles is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Davis, of Rising Sun; by a daughter, Sandra G. Ande-Walker, of Batavia, OH; by a son, Charles E. Davis, of Indianapolis; by three grandchildren: Matthew Davis (Katie), Ashley Pilot (Joe), and Alison Ande and by two great grandchildren: Jyelle and Jamison Pilot .
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at at Napoleon Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. marklandfuneralhome.com
