Dilver Thayer, Jr.

Dilver (Del) Thayer, Jr. passed on March 22, 2020 at the Georgetown, Ohio VA where he resided. Del was born April 6, 1930 in Jefferson County, Indiana to Dilver, Sr. and Margaret (Harper) Thayer.

Upon graduating high school from Milan, he went into the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1953 he was married to Karen Janet Nance. They had three children: Pamela Lynn, Marty and Mitchell.

Del retired a First Lieutenant with an exemplary service record. He was a marine for 72 years. He moved to Florida in 1973 where he married Linda Louise Thayer. Del operated a musical instrument flea market. Music was his passion. He played every string instrument.

Del is survived by two brothers Richard (Mary) Black and Roger Black; two sisters Phyllis (Harold) Taylor and Marilyn (Jerry) Wisher; his son Mitchell; and numerous grand and great-grand children.

His wish was to be cremated. A service will be held at a later date due to current circumstances.
