Dolores Lou (Rodmaker) Karst

Dolores Lou (Rodmaker) Karst, 91, of Milan passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Dolores was born on Monday, March 17, 1930 in Sunman, Indiana; daughter of Otto and Clara (Stith) Rodmaker. Dolores married William “Bill” Karst, Sr. on March 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1996.


Dolores was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Dolores was a homemaker and a caregiver for many family members. She was a lady of fashion who loved jewelry, shopping for clothes and shoes and getting her hair fixed up. She loved decorating her home, being inside, and listening to music. She enjoyed receiving cards and letters. Her mind was sharp, and she never forgot anything in life. Dolores and her husband Bill were former owners of Karst Shell Service Station in Milan and Dillsboro and the Karst Phillips 66 in Versailles.


Dolores will be missed by her son Dale (Patty) Karst of Olatha, Kansas; David Shupert of Milan; brother Gerard Rodmaker; sisters Reva Munsey and Linda Davis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Clara Rodmaker, husband Bill Karst, Sr., son William “Bill” Karst, Jr., daughter Mary Johnson, daughter-in-law Jody Karst, son-in-law Dick Johnson, and three brothers.


Family and friends may gather in remembering Dolores from 11:00AM-12:00PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home. A service will be held immediately following at 12:00 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
