Dorene Eleanor (Schraub) Landwehr

Eleanor (Schraub) Landwehr, 87, of Versailles passed away on Sat., August 13, 2022, in the comfort of her home with her family present. She was born on Sept. 21, 1934, in Alma, KS to John & Bertha (Streiner) Schraub. She graduated from Cross Plains High School in the Class of ’52. She was married to Junior “Red” Landwehr on May 28, 1952, who passed on February 28, 2010.

Survivors include their four children; Diana (Landwehr) Johnson and her husband, Gary of Elrod and their children, Micah Johnson and his girlfriend, Anna Brunner, of Bowie, MD and Jenna Johnson of Austin, TX; Gary and Dedra Landwehr of Versailles and their children, Andy & Martha Landwehr of San Antonio, TX; Eric & Ashley Landwehr and their children, Wade & Bristol of Benham; Tyler and Brechelle Landwehr and their daughter, Eden, of N. Vernon; Greg & Kim Landwehr of Versailles and his children, Dawn (Landwehr) & Kenny Jordan and their children Rory & Reese Heffelmire, Taylor, Ella, & Avery Jordan; Amber (Landwehr) and Zack Seppala and their daughters, Mara and Ada of Fairfield, OH; and Gil Landwehr of Versailles and his children, Heath & Katie of Lawrenceburg; and Vera Schraub of Versailles, her only surviving sister. Dorene was preceded in death by her brothers, Leland & Elmer Schraub, & little sister, Lucy.

Dorene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Olean, being baptized, confirmed, & married. They raised their children with the church family of St. Paul. For the last 11 years, she had been attending St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. She retired from being a P.A. at Muscatatuck after 17 years. It’s hard to sum up her precious life. She enjoyed hiking with the Friends of the Versailles State Park. She loved working with Red, doing the daily chores on the family farm and spending time with her family. She was not only loved by her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren, but by many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wed., August 17, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Keith Allhands of St. Peter Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM-12:00 Noon with service following. Final resting place will be by Red’s side at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran
