Frank Vanosdol

Frank Vanosdol

Long time Holton business owner Frank Vanosdol, age 73 had his last call on June 19, 2019.  Frank was born to the late Ira and Ellen Vanosdol on November 13, 1945.  He grew up in the Butlerville area along with his brothers and sister and attended Jennings County School System.

His true legacy began in the early 70’s when he would meet future wife Joann (McIntosh).  The two of them opened a bar, Frank and Joann’s in 1971.  The business began in an older building on the edge of town, before they built the current location in 1982.  Whether you wanted great chili, a cold beer, or someone to simply talk with, the small-town hospitality was always present.  Frank had many joys in life, from his horses to Mustang cars.  He loved being outside and working on the farm, but he truly enjoyed being around his patrons and friends.

Frank is survived by wife Joann, brothers Jim (Judy) Vanosdol and Bob (Martha) Vanosdol, sisters Alice Sporleder and Mary Cornett, along with several niece and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles and sister Margaret Cummins.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood with burial in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Holton Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
