Gladys Louise Combs, 96, of Osgood passed away at 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in Harrison County, Kentucky near Cynthiana on May 3, 1924 the daughter of George and Martha Toomey Revel. She was married to James Smart who preceded her in death and on March 16, 1978 she married Arnold Combs who preceded her in death on October 29, 2010.


Survivors include one daughter Cathy (Jeff) Volz of Osgood; four step-sons James (Esther) Smart of Cincinnati, Jerry (Rayleen) Smart of Tallahassee, Florida, Jack Smart of Connecticut, and Joe Smart of Cincinnati; two grandchildren Brandon (Laura) Smart and Alicia (Todd) Ault both of Olean; five step-grandchildren Jim, Mary, Judy, Tom, and Dale; six great-grandchildren Elijah, Quinn, and Zechariah Smart, and Trevor, Lucas, and Jayden Ault. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Lula Belle Deouch and Mildred Miller.


Mrs. Combs was a homemaker, a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood, and also did in home healthcare. Louise was a member of the Ripley County Red Hatters, Internationally Yours, and the Ripley County Extension Homemakers. She enjoyed traveling and had visited nearly all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii as well as the Caribbean and the Bahamas. She also loved to play euchre and enjoyed playing cards at Buckeye Village in Osgood. Louise attended the Versailles Baptist Church and the Osgood United Methodist Church.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 15th at 12:00 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery at Cross Plains. Visitation will also be on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to the cemetery in care of the funeral home.
